Holiday Recycling Guide Released

Holiday Recycling Guide Released

The Hendricks County Recycling District has released a Holiday Recycling Guide. The guide provides valuable recycling information for everything from wrapping paper, cardboard, and Styrofoam to Christmas trees, holiday lights, electronics, and more.

If you discover that your strands of holiday lights twinkle no more, the Plainfield Middle School is hosting a Holiday Light Recycling Drive until December 19th. Lights can be dropped off outside Door 27, at the IDEALab, or in the lobby of the school’s main gym.

Longstanding recycling programs for natural Christmas trees will return this year as trees will again be collected, for free, at the Recycling District’s Yard Waste Recycling Centers in Brownsburg and Plainfield. The Town of Avon will again be collecting at the Avon Town Hall from Avon residents. Another great Christmas tree recycling option is GreenCycle in Danville. Trees must be free from all decorations, tinsel, and lights.

During the holidays, cardboard is as prevalent as candy canes and hot chocolate. Unlike those tasty treats, cardboard is very recyclable and accepted in the curbside recycling programs offered by both Republic Services and WM. The Lizton Recycling Center is also ready to help you recycle your cardboard (over 130 tons of cardboard has already been recycled there this year!). Plastic and glass food and beverage containers, paper, cartons, and steel and aluminum cans can also be recycled there. The Lizton Recycling Center is typically open 9am to 6pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 1pm to 7pm on Wednesdays, and 9am to 3pm on Saturdays. (It will be closing at 3pm on Christmas Eve and be closed on Christmas and New Year’s Day.) Visit the Recycling District’s website, RecycleHC.org, to learn more.

The Holiday Recycling Guide is available at RecycleHC.org or by emailing Info@RecycleHC.org.
